Management Skills for Everyone



Management is considering as an important role in every organizations of this generation. Management can be defined as the arts & science of managing an organization towards its goals as the advancement of the organization. According to Peter Drucker, the well-known American business professor and consultant, management skills for all managers embrace five skills as the following:
v  Planning: going ahead in doing planning for the organizational operation. Setting goals for an organization is the most significant role. Thinking seriously what kind of achievement the organization wants. Listing down all the related goals and main goal for the organization. Then doing decision-making in developing strategies, plans, and precise tactics towards the success of organizational goals. Be smart in controlling efficiently & effectively the organization’s resources such as capital, office supplies, modern equipment, technological system, human resource, and so on, especially during the process of allocating these resources.
v  Organizing: thinking about the relations among employees and between employee & the work. Then setting the clear and approachable work structure within the organization. Therefore, all employees will know what their part is and take it easy to take their role immediately without hesitation. Breaking the burden of the whole works to a chunk under the small management group of employees in which will distribute the exact responsibility to each individual regarding attaining the goals of the organization. Then let each group choose a team leader to represent for their groups and to accelerate daily works of the team. At last, making sure the work giving to each employee is right for their skills and talents.
v  Integrating: in fact, management is going on in every organization today with the professional skill, talent & knowledge of each individual. However, the organization can not be going on only with these factors. Promoting the social skill at work for the better integration within the organization. Introducing the good attitude for work performance and seeking out the best way of communication to get through thousands of employees with the order & friendly environment. Be confident in training the staffs about communication skill; creating the friendly communication based on the motivation and honorable methods. Be initiative in guiding employees and acting as a good model for them. It is sure that there will be the unity and solidarity inside the organization if everyone understands each other clearly. Also, taking care about the good payment and promotion system for the best performance in attaining the organizational goals. Do not forget to lead the subordinate in a good manner. Be aware of what feeling others is as your own in that context!
v  Measuring: Communicating the goals with the work performance of all employees. Monitoring the result of the works from the last period whether the goal is achieved or not. If the attainment is being conducted, what percentages is it? What are the weakness & the strength of the last period work performance?
v  Developing people: reconsidering about the weakness and the strength of each employee’s work performance or as the group’s; using the smart ideas to improve the weakness and to keep the strength towards the goal through training, technology update, the incentives increase, improvement of working environment, and so on. One more thing, restructuring the strategy and the flow of works in a better manner based on the lesson learned in recent experience and the success concepts from famous people around the world.
